Medication Overuse Headache has also been called rebound headache or drug-induced headache.  This is a well documented headache type that many patients are not aware of when they first consult with our clinic.  This headache has variable symptoms but it is known to occur in individuals that have headaches more than 14 days a months and overuse medications to treat their headache.  This headache occurs as part of a vicious cycle.  When someone develops a frequent headache, they will often take a pain reliever frequently to treat it.  After a few months, the frequent use of the pain reliever causes a “rebound” phenomenon that leads to more frequent headaches.
